Aspen Avionics today announced it has earned a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation of its Evolution Backup Display, which is now available through any Aspen dealer. The announcement was made at a press conference in advance of the AEA International Convention and Trade Show, set to take place April 27–30 in Orlando.
The fully digital, independent primary flight display was designed to replace mechanical backup instruments and their supporting vacuum systems in Part 23 electronic flight instrument system installations.
Available in basic and advanced configurations, the system ranges from $5,995 to $8,995. The basic Evolution Backup Display includes attitude, altitude and airspeed indications, a turn rate indicator, slip/skid, a vertical situation indicator and GPS flight plan overlay. The advanced version offers the same functions, in addition to dual radio magnetic indicators, a horizontal situation indicator, a localizer and glide slope indicator, and emergency GPS. Customers can also add angle of attack (AOA), synthetic vision and ADS-B traffic and weather.
The Evolution Backup Display is based on the Evolution Flight Display, which boasts over 11,000 installations since certification in 2008.
