Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.

Some pilots get a special kick out of flying something truly unusual, and for them, the Yak-52 could be a dream come true. Arriving at your next fly-in at the controls of a Cold War-era Soviet aircraft is a great way to make a splash. Wherever you land, other pilots will want to know the story behind your machine.

Despite its obvious “wow factor,” the aircraft for sale today could also be a practical, versatile choice for pilots interested in getting into aerobatics, warbirds, or simply traveling solo or with their favorite passenger. The Yak-52 is based on the single-seat Yak-50, one of the European low-wing models that revolutionized aerobatic competition during the 1970s. The second seat, which made it a natural for military flight training, also makes it an ideal aerobatic trainer. The aircraft also has enough power and agility to perform in competition.

This 1986 Yak-52 has 1,207 hours on the airframe, 72 hours since overhaul on its 360 hp Vendeneyev M-14P Series 2 engine, and 72 hours on its Whirlwind carbon fiber W-530 propeller. The aircraft is equipped with a smoke system. It was repainted and its interior reupholstered in 1996.

The VFR panel  includes a uAvionix AV-30 primary flight display along with traditional analog flight and engine instruments, fuel flow indicator, Skybeacon ADS-B unit, and com radio.

Pilots interested in an easy-handling aerobatic trainer that readily rises to the occasion for airshow performances should consider this 1986 Yak-52, which is available for $77,500 on AircraftForSale.
