Robinson R66 Gains European and Chinese Certification

With Europe being one of Robinson Helicopter's most successful regions for sales, the Torrance, California-based helicopter manufacturer is likely breathing a big sigh of relief as it has achieved certification for its R66 Turbine helicopter by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The signoff allows Robinson to start delivering helicopters to a backlog of European R66 customers.

The company also announced it has achieved certification for the R66 Turbine from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which Robinson says it sees as an emerging market.

The EASA and Chinese certification paperwork were signed about four years after the company achieved FAA certification for the R66. More than 500 R66 turbines have been delivered to date and the helicopter has achieved type certification from more than 50 countries. Robinson said international customers account for about two-thirds of its sales.
