Global 7000/8000 Suppliers Announced

Bombardier Aerospace has announced new suppliers for the Global 7000 and 8000 long-range business jets. The airplanes will be equipped with the Global Vision flight deck, based on the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics suite. The avionics system will be essentially identical to the Global Vision flight deck certified by Transport Canada for the Global 5000 and 6000 earlier this year, said Greg Irmen, Vice President and General Manager, Business and Regional Systems, at Rockwell Collins.

While the Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics system is touch-screen capable, Irmen said the Global Vision flight deck is operated with a cursor-control device and keypad since the size of the cockpit puts the screens out of easy reach of the pilots.

In addition to avionics, Rockwell Collins will supply the flight control computer for the 7000 and 8000. The fly-by-wire flight controls and hydraulics system will come from Parker Aerospace. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty will provide the landing gear system, while Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems (MABS) has been selected for the wheels and brakes. Liebherr-Aerospace was selected for air management, Apparatebau Gauting GmbH (AOA) for water and waste, and Arrowhead Products for ducting systems.

Certification for the Global 7000 is projected in 2016 with the 8000 expected to follow in 2017.
