Following FAA and EASA certification a few years prior, Transport Canada has given the official thumbs up to both the regular and special-mission versions of the Diamond DA42 NG.
While Diamond continues to wait on Transport Canada’s okay for DA42 NG flight into known icing conditions, the company says the new certification will allow it to proceed with upcoming scheduled deliveries of its Austro Engine AE300-powered twin in the country.
With an additional 70 hp over its Thielert-powered predecessor, the DA42 NG first entered the market in Europe in 2009. Since then, the twin has emerged as a hit both there and across the pond, becoming a top twin-engine trainer choice at a number of U.S. flight schools.
