Alaska Airlines will soon be releasing the Kraken—that is, a Boeing 737-9 Max that sports a new livery in homage to the Seattle Kraken, the National Hockey League team that has called the Emerald City home since 2021.

The airline is a team partner and the second carrier to honor it with a special livery design. This 737 has the sea monster-inspired S—with its ominous glowing red eye—on the fuselage and the team name on the aircraft’s belly.

The aircraft will also have the coordinates to Climate Pledge Arena and tail number N933AK, which is a nod to sports radio station 93.3 KJR FM, the home of the Kraken.

The aircraft was delivered to the airline with the help of Buoy, the Kraken's  sea troll mascot, who posed for pictures in the cockpit with the captain, hanging out of the cockpit and waving, and on the ramp with the flight crew.

According to the airline, the aircraft will be in use through the 2025 and 2026 NHL seasons.
