American, ATP Partner for Pilot Training in Charlotte
Carrier’s Cadet Academy is growing its network of pilot education opportunities.

The American Airlines Cadet Academy has partnered with ATP Flight School in Charlotte, North Carolina, to get more pilots within the carrier’s ranks.
According to American Airlines, cadets attending ATP’s Charlotte location will have the opportunity to connect with the carrier’s pilot mentors for personalized guidance and support throughout their training.
Cadet Academy graduates are also guaranteed placement with one of American’s regional carriers after completing their training.
“We're excited to welcome ATP's Charlotte location to our growing network of flight school partners,” said Nathan Gatten, American’s executive vice president of American Eagle and head of the American Airlines Cadet Academy, in the release. “We’re providing access to high-quality training in a region that is very important to our operation, strengthening our efforts to maintain a sustainable pilot workforce.”
Financial options are available for candidates accepted into the program through another partnership between the American Airlines Cadet Academy and the American Airlines Federal Credit Union.
According to the release, ATP has graduated over 1,500 pilots for American’s regional carriers, including Envoy Air, Piedmont Airlines, and PSA Airlines, since 2004.
Around 900 cadets from nearly every U.S. state are currently enrolled in the American Airlines Cadet Academy. ATP is adding a new hangar and simulator bay, among other amenities, in preparation for the first class of American cadets attending its Charlotte campus in August.

We are thrilled to add this partnership alongside our longstanding rapport with American’s wholly owned regional carriers, and in doing so, to provide aspiring pilots with the airline-oriented flight training that ATP offers in the world’s largest flight training fleet on an efficient, achievable timeline.”
ATP has over 77 locations and 600 aircraft to support its partnerships with many mainline and regional carriers.
