Pilots who have been flying with the Avidyne IFD 440, 540, and 550 GPS navigators on board have enjoyed the ability to connect with the Stratus Insight for ADS-B In and flight plan information. Now, Appareo has announced that Avidyne’s Helios and Atlas FMS and GPS navigators will also connect with the Insight.
To enable the connection, those pilots using the Avidyne navigators can connect an iPad or iPhone via Wi-Fi to their FMS, and open the Stratus application to get things rolling. Using the link, pilots then can create flight plans within the flight management system and push them over to the Stratus Insight, or vice versa. If the navigator is receiving ADS-B In, it sends that subscription-free weather and traffic data to the Insight. The Insight can also utilize FMS-derived AHRS (attitude heading reference system) data as well.
“Avidyne has been delivering exceptional products to general aviation for years,” said Kristofer Garberg, president of Appareo Aviation. “With their expansion into new markets with the Atlas and Helio products, it provides more options for Stratus Insight users when selecting their hardware. Appareo is delighted to be working with Avidyne to deepen the integration to give the users a best-in-class experience in the future.”
