Aviation Supplies & Academics Updates Training for 2020

The 2020 FAR/AIM celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Boeing Stratoliner. ASA

Summer time may mean vacation for some, but for the providers of flight training materials, it's an important time to roll out updates to the date-sensitive products they supply to students. At EAA AirVenture last week, Aviation Supplies & Academics updated Flying on its line of training materials for 2020, including a new version of the Commercial ACS guide to align with the Airman Certification Standards.

Among the ongoing products that are most popular with students and instructors: the print version of the FAR/AIM for 2020. Why is print still popular? Because many instructors still find it handier to use (and locate a reg quickly) than app and other digital versions—though these certainly have gained traction in recent years. This year’s FAR/AIM salutes the 80th anniversary of both the Boeing 307 Stratoliner and the founding of ASA—which both celebrate those milestones in 2020.

ASA also plans to continue progress towards a full line of exam preparation materials aligned to the new Airmen Certification Standards with its upcoming debut of the Commercial pilot suite of products. New for kneeboards: rotating knee boards for the iPad mini and iPad Air, covered with a leather-like material and a hook-and-loop leg strap.
