Astro's "Elroy" eVTOL, a new personal electric VTOL is undergoing flight testing at Toronto Markham Airport, in Canada, Globenewswire reported. During a recent flight, Elroy flew for four and a half minutes, reaching an altitude of over 60 feet, and speeding along at over 30 mph.
The fully autonomous Elroy is and designed for densely populated areas and is considered environmentally friendly and operationally simple with its high-performance electric motor, according to Astro.
The vehicle has a top speed of 44 mph and a maximum flight time of 20 to 25 minutes. Guided by a LTE (4G) network, the automatic control can be manually overridden through its Touch Flight Control system, or its fly-by-wire joystick. Operators simply input their destination and Elroy flies them there automatically.
