FreeFlight's latest ADS-B solution, the RANGR Lite, is now shipping after the company recently received supplemental type certification from the FAA. The approved model list for the RANGR Lite includes more than 400 light GA airplane models. The RANGR Lite is based on FreeFlights earlier RANGR 978 ADS-B systems; however, the Lite is not compatible with larger aircraft models.
The RANGR Lite is available in two versions. The FDL-978-XTL is an ADS-B Out version only and costs $1,995. The FDL-978-XVRL has ADS-B In and Out for a total price of $3,695. Both units have built in WAAS/GPS as well to provide a full solution for the 2020 ADS-B compliance requirement.
The system includes ADS-B and GPS antennas, an install kit, control head and/or WiFi module if needed, and FreeFlight claims it is "easy to install and requires minimal integration to the aircraft." FreeFlight's ADS-B products integrate with several aviation apps, including ForeFlight.
