Zaon Flight Systems has introduced a portable traffic alerter that the company says is designed to incorporate ADS-B 1090 extended squitter and TIS-B data with the company’s existing PCAS XRX traffic detection technology to provide a “triangle of protection” in flight.
Zaon’s 1090MX unit is a $599 portable TIS-B and ADS-B receiver that links with the PCAS XRX transponder-based unit to show the location of target aircraft, including military traffic, on a portable GPS system.
While the MX1090 can function as a stand-alone ADS-B traffic detection system, Zaon recommends that it be used in conjunction with the XRX unit to provide the detection of non-ADS-B-equipped aircraft. As part of a package, the PCAS XRX unit and Bluetooth version of the 1090MX sell for $1,995.
The Zaon PCAS and MX1090 units are compatible with most portable aviation GPS receivers, the company said.
