The Garmin Pilot app for the iPad and iPhone now offers global coverage, providing users with worldwide charts and maps, weather information and flight plan capabilities.
Garmin said it has also added radar and satellite imagery coverage for Western Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.S. along with European VFR charts from Deutsche Flugicherung (DFS) and IFR charts from Eurocontrol.
FliteCharts and SafeTaxi coverage, meanwhile, has been extended into Canada, including approaches, departures and arrival procedures, full availability of which is expected next month.
The Garmin Pilot 6.2 app sells for $199 for a one-year subscription, with optional FliteCharts, SafeTaxi, DFS and IFR charts costing an additional $49.99 a year. Garmin Pilot Canada Premium is due out next month for $149.99 a year.
