Living Legends Awards Event Postponed Due to Wildfires
Annual aviation honors ceremony in Los Angeles will be rescheduled for spring 2025.
The Living Legends of Aviation 22nd Annual Awards celebration on January 17 in Los Angeles has been postponed due to the ongoing wildfire fire emergency, according to its organizers.
The annual black-tie affair usually takes place at the Beverly Hills Hilton.
"After much consideration, and in light of the devastation currently still going on in the Los Angeles area with multiple wildfires, we have decided that it is best to postpone the 22nd annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards," the organization said.
The organization recognizes aviation entrepreneurs, innovators, industry leaders, pilot celebrities, and astronauts who have made significant contributions in aviation. The event is hosted by aviation celebrities like John Travolta. Previous honorees include astronauts Bonnie Dunbar, Buzz Aldrin, entrepreneur Jeff Bezos, and pilots such as C.E. "Bud" Anderson, Harrison Ford, and Tom Cruise.
Last year, Gulfstream president Mark Burns, aviation journalist and FLYING contributor Fred George, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, were inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation.
"Our hearts are with everyone in the Los Angeles area, specifically those who have been affected by this devastating tragedy, and we are committed to honoring the aerial heroes that are currently fighting the ultimate battle to get these fires contained when we get together this spring," Stacey Elsner, executive director of Living Legends of Aviation and Kiddie Hawk Air Academy, said in a statement. "Together, we stand united in hope, resilience, and gratitude for those on the frontline and look forward to celebrating the spirit of aviation and its heroes with all of you in the near future.”
