An investigation is underway after a Delta Air Lines flight overturned at Toronto Pearson International Airport (CYYZ) Monday morning in what officials have described as an “incident upon landing."
Images of the Delta CRJ-900 show the airplane on its back on a snow-covered airfield with a fire truck spraying down the tail section. Black smoke appears to be rising from the inverted aircraft.
"All passengers and crew are accounted for," the airport said in a statement on social media.
At least 18 on board the aircraft were injured, including two critically, NBC News reported.
There were 80 people on board the aircraft at the time of the incident, the FAA said. According to Delta, there were four crewmembers on board.
"[CYYZ] was closed shortly after the incident occurred," Delta said.
"The [National Transportation Safety Board] is leading a team of U.S. investigators to assist the Transportation Safety Board of Canada with their investigation of today’s accident of a Delta Air Lines Bombardier CRJ900 at Toronto Pearson International Airport," NTSB said in a statement. "Per international protocols under the International Civil Aviation Organization's Annex 13, any information about the investigation will be released by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada."
According to FlightRadar24, the flight from Minneapolis was operating as Delta Air Lines Flight 4819 operated by Endeavor Air for Delta Connection.

It is not clear what the weather was at the time of the jet's arrival, but the review of the Terminal Area Forecast (TAF) shows winds from 270 at 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph with reported snow showers and blowing snow.
This is a developing story.
