New Safety Tool Puts FAA Docs and Data in Single Location

A new safety tool, the Dynamic Regulatory System, recently released online by the FAA, brings together documents and data from more than a dozen agency repositories. The DRS combines more than 65 document types—upwards of 2 million regulatory documents—into one searchable application, including all of the information found in the Flight Standards Information System (FSIMS) and the Regulatory Guidance System (RGL) for the Office of Aviation Safety.

The search engine behind the DRS allows for both simple, direct searches and more complex queries, using the application of filters. Included in the system are all current documents, as well as pending versions and historical archives along with appropriate revision history. The DRS is updated every 24 hours (each night) to offer the most recent data. Additional document types may be added in the future, as needed.

Mobile users can access the DRS, which is optimized for desktop users on Chrome or Safari—Internet Explorer is not supported by the tool. The DRS was designed through a collaboration between the Flight Standards Service, Office of Aircraft Certification, Office of Information Technology, labor organizations, contractors, and industry partners.
