On Saturday, September 23, organizations and pilots around the world will celebrate Girls in Aviation Day to promote "the passion, exploration, learning, and excitement of aviation and aerospace." The timing is obviously perfect, as Miss Vermont Erica Connor stole the spotlight at Miss America by flying her own airplane to Atlantic City, and Shaesta Waiz will soon return from her educational, inspiring and all-around epic adventure.
Airlines, colleges, vendors and corporations have lined up to sponsor and amplify the important mission of this occasion, and a full list of chapters and links to their events is available on the Women in Aviation International website.
Need a little more inspiration? Weāve dipped deeper into the Flight Chops catalog for this weekās video, as this 2016 offering was recorded for Women in Aviation Week. The message is still very relevant, because itās impossible not to appreciate and cherish the joy experienced by these young girls on their aviation adventure. Hopefully this will inspire other pilots to spread the message as well.
