American Winds College of Aviation

Located in Akron, Ohio, American Winds offers five aviation associate degree programs as well as the opportunity to work toward becoming a professional pilot and earning an ATP without getting a degree. American Winds students can fly any day of the week.

Program Highlights

American Winds is located directly on the Akron Fulton Airport (KAKR) and hosts a PSI testing center.

American Winds has a 100 percent placement rate and 98 percent pass rate on check rides.  

Students can continue their education after gaining job offers with the ability to complete their airline transport pilot certificate at American Winds.

Total program costs at American Winds come in at about $75,000. This includes if a student opts to pursue an associate’s degree plan or just attend the flight school. 

American Winds offers many different ways for students to pay for school, including flight school specific student loans, financial aid, and scholarships, including the:

  • Corporate Aviation Management Committee Scholarship

The school also accepts veteran’s benefits such as the GI Bill.

American Winds owns its own fleet of training aircraft including:

Graduates of American Winds’ flight program will be eligible for a R-ATP of 1,250 hours.
