Value

Andrews University is a private, faith-based university, which leads to its tuition being higher than average. Before scholarships and eligible ministry, work students will earn around $30,000 a semester, not including room and board. Andrews estimates a total of $18,000 in scholarships per student, bringing costs down to about $12,000 a semester. This is base tuition and also does not include flight expenses.

On top of base tuition, flight students will have additional costs for flight courses. Over the course of four years, to complete all flight certificates Andrews University has to offer, students will need an additional $65,000. Andrews also offers many additional ratings flight students can achieve, which can add $1,500-25,000, depending on additional courses taken.

Students can apply for outside scholarships to help with the cost of tuition, including the:

  • Captain Jeff Kuss Aviation Scholarship
  • CGCS-Bernard Harris Scholarship
  • Chuck Peacock Memorial Scholarship

A flight fee reduction of $11,200 is available for all Andrews University flight students.

All new students entering the Associates in Aviation Maintenance will receive a $14,000 APS scholarship for up to two years.

Fleet and Facilities

Andrews University has a  traditional fleet of aircraft that includes:

  • Piper Archers
  • Piper Arrows
  • Piper Seminoles

Graduates from Andrews’s Part 141 flight training program are eligible for a restricted ATP. The hour reduction is dependent on if the student achieves an associate (250) or bachelor’s (500) degree.

Campus life

Andrews University offers on- and off-campus housing for students as well as many dining options. Andrews University is operated as a residential campus—all single undergraduate students under age 22 live in a University residence hall.

Many athletic teams call Andrews University their home turf. Some sports students can try out for or cheer on include, men’s and women’s basketball and soccer.

Faith engagement is a large part of Andrews University’s identity. The school offers on-campus services, community outreach, and Grow groups.

The Bottom Line

Andrews University is a Seventh-day Adventist institution that offers a number of different pathways for students interested in aviation careers. The flight fee reductions Andrews offers, combined with the scholarships opportunities available, can make Andrews an affordable path to becoming a professional pilot. Restricted ATP eligibility allows students a direct pathway to careers after graduation.
