Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Community College of Allegheny County offers two aviation associate degree programs and a certificate program for aspiring pilots. Students can pursue a bachelor’s degree at one of the school’s partner universities after completing their associate.

Program Highlights

Community College of Allegheny County flight training is conducted at Allegheny County Airport (KAGC). Aviation courses are conducted at the airport.

Programs offered include:

Students who are seeking to earn a pilot’s license for personal enjoyment are able to enroll without pursuing a degree.

After completing an associate degree, students can go on to pursue a bachelor’s degree at one of Community College of Allegheny County’s partner schools:

● Pennsylvania College of Technology
● Clarion University

Value

Community College of Allegheny County’s base tuition for in-state students is affordable. Full-time students will pay about $4,600 a year. Out-of-state students’ tuition will be about $12,000 a year. This is base tuition and does not include flight expenses.

Students progressing through all ratings from private pilot to multiengine can expect to spend between $60,000 to $75,000 in total fees over their four years.

The school offers many institutions and the school accepts outside aviation scholarships for students to take advantage of, including:

● Commonwealth Scholarships
● Olin E. Teague Memorial Scholarship
● Pioneers of Flight Scholarship

The school also accepts veteran’s benefits such as the GI Bill.

Fleet and Facilities

Community College of Allegheny County owns its own fleet of training aircraft, which includes:

● Cessna 172s
● Piper Seminoles

Graduates may be eligible for a R-ATP.

The Bottom Line

Community College of Allegheny County is one of few Part 141 aviation programs in the state of Pennsylvania. Students will have the benefit of small class sizes, being close to a large city, and a restricted ATP upon completion.
