Located in Durant, Oklahoma, Southeastern Oklahoma State University offers two aviation bachelor’s degrees, one minor, and a graduate degree program. The school has been training pilots for more than 50 years and hosts a comprehensive flight training augmented with intense academic and ground training designed to produce confident, safe, and professional pilots.
Program Highlights
Southeastern Oklahoma State University is an FAA-approved Part 141 pilot school, and flight operations are conducted at the Eaker Field (KDUA), which is located about five miles south of the main southeastern campus.

Students can take classes at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City if they are a member of the military or a Department of Defense civilian, or dependent and can gain access to the base.

Southeastern Oklahoma University is one of the few flight programs with an Aviation Accreditation Board International accreditation.
It is also part of Region 4 of the National intercollegiate Flying Association.
Value
An in-state student at Southeastern Oklahoma State University will pay an affordable base tuition at around $2,500 a semester. An out-of-state student will pay slightly more at approximately $5,500 a semester. Some out-of-state students may be eligible for a tuition waiver. Students who plan to live on campus and purchase a dining plan will have additional fees. Base tuition does not include flight expenses.
Flight fees are also on the more affordable side. To complete their entire flight program, the university estimates students will pay less than $50,000.
There are 17 different aviation scholarships that award more than $20,000 annually.
The school also accepts veteran’s benefits such as GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon.
Fleet and Facilities
Southeastern Oklahoma State University hosts a traditional fleet of training aircraft, including:
- Cessna 150/152s
- Cessna 172s
- Cessna 182s
- Cirrus SR-20s
- Cessna 310s
It also has a PFS Modular Flight Deck Flight Simulator for additional training.
Graduates from the Part 141 flight training program are eligible for the restricted ATP of 1,000 hours.
Campus Life
Home to approximately 700 students, Southeastern Oklahoma State University offers on-campus housing to students, including four residential facilities, including one apartment-style complex, meet the needs of everyone.
The university is a small college but has a lot to offer. Involvement in organizations will help students to meet like-minded individuals. Southeastern Oklahoma State University hosts organizations for all interests like government, arts, and science clubs. It also has many Greek chapters on campus for students looking to rush a fraternity or sorority.
For students interested in playing sports, the university provides intramurals for students. Some of the offered sports include volleyball, tennis, and basketball.
