More than 100 customer pilots have earned their Gulfstream G700 type ratings from the Savannah, Georgia-based FlightSafety International training center, the aircraft manufacturer said Thursday.

The milestone comes six months after the Gulfstream G700 received type certification from the FAA.

Pilots from around the world are traveling to the training center to earn their G700 type rating, according to Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream. According to the company, in addition to the customer pilots some 80 corporate pilots and 20 FlightSafety International G700 instructors have been typed in the design.

Burns said he expected the number of pilots to increase as more deliveries are made.

“Thanks to the innovative and intuitive Gulfstream Symmetry Flight Deck and the maturity of the G700 program, the ease with which customers are taking delivery is impressive,” Burns said.

About the Airplane

The G700 boasts the Symmetry Flight Deck with touchscreen technology, which according to the company reduces pilot workload and flight start-up time when paired with Phase-of-Flight intelligence.

The flight deck Combined Vision System (CVS) integrates with Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) and Synthetic Vision System (SVS) to project a single on-screen image on both the primary flight display and dual heads-up display to increase the flight crew's situational awareness.

Gulfstream noted that in addition to achieving certification from the FAA and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the G700 has earned type certificate validations in nine other countries, including most recently the U.K.’s Civil Aviation Authority.
