Avidyne ratcheted up its retrofit glass panel offerings with an announcement at AirVenture it is launching the PFD4000 primary flight display. The unit is expected to be available either by the end of this year or early next year. Price point was not announced, but a company spokesman said it would be ?competitive? with offerings from Garmin and Bendix/King. The PFD4000 is a ?six-pack? replacement that will fit virtually any light aircraft panel. It has a wide-format artificial horizon, trend tapes for altitude, airspeed and vertical speed, electronic HSI with moving map, a wind vector and more. The PFD4000 is modeled after ?its bigger brother? the EXP5000 as included in the Entegra Suite.
