Cirrus Boosts Production: A Sign of Better Times?

Cirrus announced last week it has ramped production back up to six aircraft per week. For the last six months, the rate had been three to four per week. The company will continue to assess production on a month-to-month basis, and no laid off workers have been called back. The increased rate of production has been accommodated by 'increased efficiencies.' In a news release, Cirrus said sales activity has been encouraging both domestically and worldwide. It also said the market has responded well to upgrades in the Cirrus SR22 and SR20 lines, including the Perspective by Garmin avionics suite and the recent approval for flight into known icing (FIKI) based on CAV's upgraded TKS fluid anti-icing system. The news release said the company will reevaluate production after the first-half figures for 2009 are in at the end of next month.
