Cirrus Jet Market Strategy: A Name to Be Displayed Later

Cirrus president Alan Klapmeier teased EBACE press conference attendees by promising that 'the jet' would eventually receive a more substantial name, but he didn't provide clues as to what it might be. More important, the company released photos of the prototype under construction and hinted that it might be flying in time to arrive at EAA AirVenture this summer under its own power. Photos showed the jet on its gear, the L-3 avionics panel configured, the Williams FJ44 engine in its nacelle and its V-tail control surfaces in place. Klapmeier stressed, however, that he would leave the first flight decision up to the pilots who will make the trip. Cirrus reportedly has refundable deposits for 400 examples of the … whatever it will be called.
