Construction Continues on FAA NextGen Research Center

A new FAA research park is now under construction outside Atlantic City, New Jersey. The facility will be dedicated to developing the Next Generation air traffic system, commonly abbreviated as "NextGen." The new site sits on 55 leased acres adjacent to the William J. Hughes Technical Center. The FAA will not incur any cost associated with the new park, which will enable centralized research by industry partners in developing, testing, integrating and verifying technologies, concepts and procedures involved in NextGen. The research park is expected to create 2,000 high-skill jobs in the area with a total investment by private sector funding of between $80 and $100 million.
