Flight Display Systems Introduces Cloud CMS Support

Flight Display Systems has received FAA STC approval for a new software product designed for its cabin management system called Cloud CMS Support. The STC was issued for the launch customer of the software – an operator of a Gulfstream GIV.

The software is installed in a laptop that connects to Flight Display Systems Select CMS system. As long as a Wi-Fi or 3G connection is available, a support crew in Atlanta can access the software and troubleshoot the CMS system while in flight. The software also enables the support staff on the ground to control objects in the cabin such as lighting switches and window shades. They can even flush the toilet, according to David Gray, President of Flight Display Systems. But novelties aside, the system should help operators minimize maintenance downtime since the troubleshooting can be done in the air.

Operators can also expect lower maintenance costs since the Cloud CMS Support is free to all Select CMS customers. Flight Display Systems claims the Select CMS was the first retrofit cabin management system on the market when it was introduced in October of 2009.
