Honeywell completed its acquisition of EMS Technologies this week, bringing additional satellite communication expertise and computing technologies to the well-known provider of GA products.
As part of the $491 million deal, Honeywell will gain EMS’s Aviation division, which designs and produces advanced satcom systems for both commercial and defense costumers. Rugged data storage, surveillance systems and in-cabin network devices are just a few of the various products produced by the division that will now fall under the Honeywell umbrella.
“Combining EMS products into our Aerospace business means that Honeywell can now deliver the next big leap in satcom technology, a key growth area for aerospace,” said Honeywell Aerospace president and CEO Tim Mahoney in a recent press release.
In addition to EMS’s Aviation division, Honeywell will also acquire the company’s $181 million Global Resource Management division, which produces mobile computing products and satellite-based technology for use in a variety of sectors including transportation, logistics and workforce management.
