Last Friday, assets of JetDirect Aviation were formally turned over to a new company, JDAAC (JetDirect Aviation Acquisition Company, Inc.), doing business as Wayfarer Aviation. The asset purchase included contracts and software from JetDirect, and none of the debt. JetDirect had been in foreclosure for several weeks. Most of the former JetDirect employees were hired by Wayfarer, and a spokesman said that roughly half of JetDirect's approximately 100 business-jet-owner clients have transferred their management contracts to the new company. Of those, as many as 40 owners will list their aircraft on Wayfarer's Part 135 charter certificate. That would rank the new company among the top three charter fleets worldwide, according to the spokesman. JetDirect surrendered its FAA Part 135 charter certificate and a new one was issued to Wayfarer. The new company is backed by investors from Brantley Partners of Beachwood, Ohio. That group also backs aviation businesses DeCrane Aircraft, Flight Options and Corporate Wings.
