New Bombardier Global Siblings Stretch Out to 7,900 Miles

Bombardier

Bombardier introduced two new members of its ultra-long-range family of Global business jets this week. And from the size of the party, it's clear the Canadian manufacturer has confidence in the economic turnaround. The two new jets are each priced at $65 million (2010 dollars). The Global 7000 and Global 8000 are not scheduled for first deliveries until 2016 and 2017, respectively. But when they arrive, the 7000, with its four-zone cabin, will be capable of traveling 7,300 nautical miles; and the three-zone-cabin 8000 will go 7,900 nautical miles before having to stop for gas. That includes nonstop trips such as Sydney to Los Angeles; Hong Kong to New York; and Mumbai to New York. The larger Global 7000, with four staterooms, can go from London to Singapore; New York to Dubai; and Beijing to Washington — all with 10 passengers at Mach 0.85. The two new Global aircraft join Bombardier's family of two existing ultra-long-range jets — the Global 5000 and the Global XRS. With the official launch of the two new jets on Monday at the NBAA convention in Atlanta, Bombardier is now taking orders. Steve Ridolfi, president of Bombardier Business Aircraft, said, "We are offering a business jet travel experience that is unmatched and ahead of its time."
