Safety 1st Pilot Briefing Program Unveiled for Teterboro

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) announced it is releasing the first of a series of web-based air crew briefing sites designed to familiarize visiting pilots with airports' unique features. The inaugural airport for Safety 1st is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country, Teterboro Airport (TEB) in New Jersey. The result of a project funded by a grant from the FAA, the Safety 1st web briefing includes critical information about TEB, including its location in relation to other metro-New York airports, layout, operations details, regulations and safety and security procedures both in the air and on the ground. The key elements of the crew briefing include discussions and graphic presentations of specific "hot spots," scenarios for common pilot errors and important takeoff and departure procedures, such as the Dalton Departure designed to safely interface with overhead airline traffic on final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport just to the south of Teterboro. NATA hopes to initiate Safety 1st programs for other airports around the country. For a look at the website for Teterboro go to www.airportflightcrewbriefing.com/teterboro.
