Record cold, snow and ice storms were as much a part of the pre-Super Bowl talk as were blitzes and cover packages. When snow avalanched off the roof of spanking new Cowboy Stadium, several workers were injured. Clearly, Dallas is not well prepared for this sort of weather challenge. For incoming aircraft, Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth Airports closed for snow removal on Friday morning, causing numerous diversions to other nearby facilities, such as Addison Airport to the north of the city. The cost in time to Super Bowl-bound passengers was measured in minutes, and many of the diverted aircraft remained at Addison and other satellite fields for the duration of the festivities. While not exactly the "frozen tundra" of Green Bay's Lambeau Field, the outside of domed Cowboy Stadium at least fulfilled the scenario known best to Packer fans — and the results of the game warmed a lot of hearts in Wisconsin.
