Sino-Swearingen SJ30-2

With 2,300-pound-thrust Williams FJ44 engines, acceleration on the runway is not brisk, a tradeoff of the jet's efficiency and speed at altitude.
The long development time for the SJ30-2 means the Honeywell Epic avionics suite is missing some of the more modern niceties, including an engine instrument and crew advisory system (EICAS).
Block speed on our San Antonio-to-New York trip was 412 knots -- faster than some light jets' top speeds.
With the SJ30-2, Sino Swearingen has gambled that high speed will trump short-field capability
