Help Your Favorite Charity Win $10,000

Here's an opportunity to provide your favorite aviation charity with a financial boost. In a press conference at the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo this week, Lightspeed Aviation's president Allan Schrader announced the 12 finalists for the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation Pilot's Choice Awards. Simply go online to lightspeedaviationfoundation.org to vote for your favorite. The charities with the most votes will receive up to $10,000.

Since the foundation started in 2010, nearly $500,000 has been awarded, Schrader said. With 75,000 votes submitted, eight charities received financial awards last year, and the winner of the $10,000 prize was Pilots N Paws.

In addition to the potential financial boost, the Pilot's Choice Awards provide a good incentive for charitable organizations to spread the word about their good deeds. The finalist are Angel Flight West, Civil Air Patrol, Experience Aviation, JAARS, Miracle Flights for Kids, Missionary Flights International, Mission Aviation Foundation, New Tribes Mission Aviation, The Ninety-Nines, Patient AirLift Services, Patriots Jet Team Foundation and Pilots N Paws.

Like last year, the winners of the Pilot's Choice Awards will be announced at the Flying Aviation Expo in Palm Springs, California in October.
