The flagship of the super-midsize line for Embraer Executive Jets, the Praetor 600 has gained type certification from Transport Canada, the company announced on February 12. The jet was first delivered in June 2019, and a total of 18 600s went out the door for Embraer in 2020—along with 10 Praetor 500s, 50 Phenom 300s, and 6 Phenom 100s. Embraer’s first fleet-customer 600 went to Flexjet in late 2020.
“The certification by Transport Canada Civil Aviation reinforces the great momentum of the Praetor 600 in the global market,” said Michael Amalfitano, the president and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets. “Canada is an important market for Embraer, and we are excited to continue to serve this market with our industry-leading products. The Praetor 600 is the world’s most disruptive and technologically advanced super-midsize jet with superior performance and technology in addition to, offering the smoothest flight in a best-in-class 6-foot-tall flat-floor cabin, resulting in the ultimate passenger comfort.”
The Praetor’s 4,000-nm range at a best-endurance cruise speed allows it to marry city pairs such as Toronto, Ontario, and London, England; Montreal, Quebec, and Paris, France; Calgary, Alberta, and Honolulu, Hawaii; and Vancouver, British Columbia; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 600 can handle a flight plan of at least 3,700 nm at its maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.80. The 600 will use runways less than 4,500 feet in length while carrying four passengers and full fuel.
Several environmental improvements have been made to the series, partially in response to customer requirements driven by the pandemic in 2020. The 600 carries the lowest cabin altitude it its class, 5,800 feet at FL450, with 100-percent fresh air capability. The HEPA filter is now standard on all aircraft in the Praetor series, along with a newly certified pocket-style, electric lavatory door.
