RAA Scholarship Deadline Approaching

The Regional Airline Association wants to help a few well-qualified students cope with the costs involved in joining the industry. Bombardier

With kids in college aiming for a career in the airline industry, every dollar helps, especially when those funds might come in the form of a scholarship. The Regional Airline Association (RAA) is again offering four individual scholarships of $4,000 each to an aspiring university or college student. The deadline for applying is June 3.

In order to qualify, the student must already be enrolled in a college or university program leading to an airline career and hold a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a four-point scale. Applicants will be considered from other programs/majors, if the applicant’s goal of a career in airline management can be demonstrated through work experience or the personal essay. Finally, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents.

The application process is being conducted entirely online. No mail-in options exist. The process begins here with a resume outlining the applicant's work experience, extracurricular interests and community activities. Applicants must also write an essay of up to 350 words detailing why they're interested in the airline industry. The final element requires a letter of recommendation from one of the applicant's professor or instructor explaining why that person believes the student has a promising future in the industry.

RAA says the following criteria will be used to judge applicants; Demonstrated scholastic achievement; demonstrated work experience, extracurricular or community activities; strength of faculty recommendation; and the strength of applicant's 350-word career essay.
