You may recall a German company called Remos — a manufacturer that arrived on the U.S. LSA scene early with several airplane offerings that had previously been available as ultralights in Europe. The company was forced to reorganize in 2014, and its future was questionable. However, Remos is now coming back in full force with a new airplane called GXiS.

The Remos GXiS is powered by a fuel-injected 100 hp Rotax 912 iS Sport engine, which has a computerized startup process developed by Remos. The GXiS also features a highly capable instrument panel with a Dynon 10-inch touch screen and Garmin GTN 750 WAAS-capable navigator that also serves as the comm, audio panel, transponder and autopilot interface.

As part of the restructuring, Remos’ LSAs are now distributed in the U.S. through the Cape Girardeau, Missouri-based Skybound Aviation, which has been a Remos dealer since 2011. The company is also supporting the existing fleet of Remos LSAs and providing flight training.

“Remos performance has always been excellent, and with the new technologies in the panel and firewall forward, the aircraft raises the bar for owner benefits,” said Skybound’s Glen “Mac” McCallister.

The GXiS is expected to be available this summer.
