Wright State University will host its second annual “Festival of Flight” on September 25 at the school’s campus in Fairburn, Ohio.
Organizers say the Festival of Flight is a celebration of the aviation heritage in the Dayton area, which was the childhood home of Wright Brothers and the current home to dozens of flight-related organizations.
The event will feature:
- Three guided tours of Huffman Prairie, where, through a series of unique experiments, the Wright Brothers mastered the principles of controlled, powered flight and developed the world’s first practical airplane
- A flyover from the MacAir Aero Club Formation Flying Group
- The public premiere of a new documentary from the National Aviation Hall of Fame titled “A Journey Through The Birthplace of Aviation”
- A book signing event with AIAA associate fellow Michelle Rouch, illustrator of the children’s book “Astronaut Al Travels to the Moon”
- The “Innovation and Education Hangar,” which will feature hands-on, experiential activities
Partners in the event include the:
- Dayton Regional STEM School
- National Aviation Heritage Alliance
- National Aviation Hall of Fame
- National Museum of the U.S. Air Force
