Signature and Neste Reach Nine Airports With Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Signature will provide access to sustainable aviation fuel through its partnership with Neste at Austin, Houston-Hobby, and San Jose airports. Signature Flight Support

Nine airports will now offer sustainable aviation fuel through a partnership between Signature Flight Support and Neste, producer of MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel, and the airport authorities. Newly added to the program are Signature’s operations at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas (KAUS), Houston-Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas (KHOU), and the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in San Jose, California (KSJC).

Neste’s MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel is supplied through the Signature Renew program, and it comprises of a 35/65 blend ratio of renewable feedstock and regular jet-A. Signature said in the release that the fuel “reduces direct net lifecycle carbon output by 25 percent, with that number set to increase in the near future as regulators allow for increased blend ratios. The initial agreement for Texas, encompassing over 100,000 gallons of SAF, is expected to yield a 350 metric tonne reduction in aircraft CO2 emissions.”

“Signature is achieving yet another first in business aviation’s sustainability journey with the introduction of commercially available SAF in Texas,” said Marty Kretchman, SVP of operations planning for Signature Flight Support. “We continue to exhibit SAF growth that can be quantified in the millions of gallons, and to date Signature Renew has prevented thousands of tonnes—not pounds—of CO2 from entering the environment.”

More information on how sustainable aviation fuel reduces life-cycle carbon emissions can be found within this white paper from the International Air Transportation Association (IATA).
