Thrill seekers who dream of building their very own personal jet to throw around the sky now have the option of bringing along a friend.
Sonex Aircraft revealed the development of a two-seat version of the SubSonex single-engine jet, more details of which will be revealed soon.
The new JSX-2T is being billed by the Oshkosh, Wisconsin, company as an ideal trainer for the single-place JSX-2, and of course the perfect toy for those who want to share “the unique experience of jet-powered flight in a light aircraft.”
The JSX-2T is configured with side-by-side seating for optimum CG placement and to offers a superior training environment for pilots, Sonex revealed. With a wingspan of 21.8 feet, the JSX-2T will have similar wing loading and handling characteristics as the single-place JSX-2, as well as the same proven PBS TJ-100 turbojet engine, Sonex said. An optional, more powerful PBS TJ-150 engine will also be offered.
Sonex will hold an open house event in the lead up to EAA AirVenture on Sunday July 21 at 10 a.m. to provide more details about the JSX-2T, including its projected development timeline and how customers can get in line to purchase their own two-place SubSonex. The homecoming event will be held at the Sonex factory headquarters at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh the day before AirVenture. A forum focused on the JSX-2T will also be held at AirVenture on Wednesday July 24 on Forum Stage 5 at 11:30 a.m.
The SubSonex Personal Jet aircraft first began development in 2009, and is now being sold around the world as the most popular and affordable kit jet aircraft, Sonex said. SubSonex JSX-2 kit, engine and completion costs start at under $114,00. Sonex said the target price for the SubSonex JSX-2T is under $140,000.
