CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee—The Space Store, an e-commerce retailer specializing in space-themed merchandise, has opened its first physical retail space here in downtown.

The Space Store got its start in 1996 as one of the first e-commerce businesses on the internet. For the past 28 years, The Space Store has provided exclusive space-themed collectibles, apparel, artifacts, meteorites, memorabilia, books, gifts, and toys for space enthusiasts everywhere.

As the largest NASA merchandise retailer on the planet, The Space Store has been a regular internet destination for space enthusiasts. The store also features products from SpaceX, Boeing, and the U.S. Space Force.

There is a large collectible section with rocket and airplane models, and the store carries almost every space mission patch available for purchase.

In addition to toys that appeal to young and old space nerds alike, there is a book and toy section, along with a large selection of space-related Lego sets.

The Space Store is locally owned and operated by Firecrown, the largest media and commerce platform specializing in the enthusiast category. Firecrown owns Astronomy, the most-read space media platform.

“It made sense to open our first brick-and-mortar store in Chattanooga, our hometown,” said Craig Fuller, CEO of Firecrown. “The Space Store is the largest space merch retailer in the world, but has strictly been e-commerce until now. It made sense to expand The Space Store to Chattanooga to capitalize on the local family tourism market. Everyone knows a space enthusiast, so this is the perfect place to pick up those unique gifts that can only be found at The Space Store.”

A large part of the products that The Space Store carries are exclusive items commissioned by Astronomy to further space education and enthusiasm.

“We have over 20 types of globes featuring all the planets and moons across our solar system,” Fuller said. “There is a large selection of books unique to Astronomy, along with stationery, apparel, hats, and other items that can only be found at The Space Store.”

The world’s largest retailer of NASA and space-themed collectibles opened its first brick-and-mortar location in downtown Chattanooga at 412 Market Street.

The Space Store’s dazzling displays include a mission patch wall featuring patches from hundreds of space missions, milestones, and iconic programs, as well as authentic SpaceX suits and other fascinating hardware. The store’s centerpiece is a floor-to-ceiling, backlit, ultra-high-definition image of the famous “Pillars of Creation,” in the Eagle Nebula taken by the James Webb Space Telescope.

As the No. 1 online retailer of NASA and space-themed gifts, The Space Store’s first physical storefront brings the cosmos down to Tennessee.
