Superior Air Parts Hands Out Educational Book

Superior Air Parts revealed the new handbook, “Engine Management 101,” at AirVenture 2017. Flying

Superior Air Parts is celebrating its 50th anniversary as an aviation parts supplier this year. One of the company’s main missions is to make flying more affordable, said Superior Air Parts’ CEO, Keith Chatten, and it has done that through forums and seminars at air shows such as EAA AirVenture, among other things.

Chatten said many seminar attendees in the past have requested copies of the presented information. So in celebration of the 50th anniversary, Superior Air Parts has published a book named Engine Management 101.

Written by Superior’s vice president of product support, Bill Ross, the book is both entertaining and educational. It includes tips on how to save money while keeping safe by choosing the right mechanic, managing the engine properly and testing the engine to make sure all is well inside. The book will be handed out at Superior Air Parts forums and seminars in Oshkosh this week.

Superior started out selling PMA parts and transitioned into building its own line of piston engines ranging in power from 150 to 215 hp. Today there are more than 2,000 Superior engines flying in experimental and certified airplanes, Chatten said.

Pia Bergqvist joined FLYING in December 2010. A passionate aviator, Pia started flying in 1999 and quickly obtained her single- and multi-engine commercial, instrument and instructor ratings.
