Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
The Piper Comanche is a beautiful design that emerged in the 1950s in response to the popularity of the Beechcraft Bonanza, which caught much of the GA industry off guard when introduced in 1947.
Historically, the Comanche has been less expensive than the Bonanza, and that theme continues in today’s used market. Models that have received good care and equipment upgrades can offer great value to aircraft shoppers.
The aircraft for sale today comes with panel upgrades that will make it familiar to pilots accustomed to using Garmin and other glass-panel avionics. There are many 1960s-era aircraft on the market with original instrumentation that can be worrying for shoppers, but this 1967 Comanche is not one of those. Most pilots are likely to have an easy transition to flying this airplane.
The Comanche also occupies a sweet spot for people seeking a versatile personal aircraft that can handle long cross-country trips as easily as the classic $100 hamburger mission.
This 1967 Comanche has 7,800 hours on the airframe, 977 hours on its 260 hp Lycoming IO-540, and 727 hours since new on its propeller. The aircraft carries 90 gallons of fuel, has a useful load of 1,205 pounds, and was repainted in 2011.
The IFR panel includes dual Garmin G5s, GTN 750 GPS/nav/com, Bendix King X 155 nav/com, Garmin GFC 500 autopilot, GTX 345 transponder with ADS-B In and Out, GMA 345 audio panel, Electronics International US-8AEGT and CHT monitor, and Strike Finder.
Pilots looking for a stylish, speedy four-place retractable that is, as they say, a lot of aircraft for the money, should consider this 1967 Piper PA-24-260 Comanche, which is available for $189,500 on AircraftForSale.
