This 2008 Cessna 525 CitationJet CJ1+ Is an Approachable ‘AircraftForSale’ Top Pick
Conceived during the late 1980s, the CJ1 was a pioneer in the light jet segment.
Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
GA pilots often nurture dreams of stepping up to more capable aircraft. Typically this involves a move from a basic piston single to a more advanced piston single.
But what about a longer jump—to a jet, perhaps? It is not necessarily such a reach if you choose the right jet. Cirrus famously designed its Vision Jet as a natural step-up for its piston customers. While the CJ1 has the added complexity of two engines, it was designed as a single-pilot airplane with the potential to significantly lengthen the legs of the typical family trip.
Arguably one of the nicest features of the CJ1 and its successor light jet models is its compact size. For pilots accustomed to flying six-seat piston or turboprop models, this jet will seem comfortably familiar, only faster. Its automated engine and flight controls, which go a long way toward reducing the pilot’s workload, remove much of the intimidation factor that some tend to feel when transitioning to jets.
This 2008 Cessna CJ1+ has 3,208 hours and 2,681 landings on the airframe, 3,199 hours and 2,669 cycles on the left engine, and 3,208 hours and 2,681 cycles on the right. The aircraft’s Williams International FJ441AP turbofan engines are FADEC controlled and have operated under the TAP Blue engine program, and MRX Blue Eye maintenance tracking program.
The IFR panel features the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite, which includes a Collins FMS-3000, Collins 4000S WAAS, Garmin GPS 500 dual Collins VHF-4000 coms, dual NAV-4000/4500, dual Collins TDR 94D Mode S transponders, RTA-800 weather radar, L3 WX-1000E Stormscope, TRC-899 TCAS Honeywell Mark VIII EPGWS, Collins NAV-4000 ADF and DME, and Collins FSU-5010 IFIS.
Pilots who are ready to move up to a jet that is large enough for family transport but light enough to operate from a wide range of GA airports should consider this 2008 Cessna CJ1+, which is available on AircraftForSale.
