Skyfarer Academy Launches Live Flight Training Platform
Company offers personalized training it says is designed to supplement traditional instruction to help flight students stay on track.
Skyfarer Academy has launched a new aviation training platform offering live online ground and flight instruction from professional instructors who specialize in what they teach.
According to Skyfarer Academy, the platform is a "complimentary training resource" for flight students enrolled in both Part 61 or Part 141 programs.
“We’re here to address the gaps in traditional flight training by connecting students with qualified instructors online," said Todd Davis, co-founder and chief administrative officer of Skyfarer Academy. "Student pilots often face difficulties finding the right instructor to guide them through specific challenges in their training. Through live online sessions, our students receive the support they need to become successful pilots, while flight instructors can share their knowledge on a broader scale and help reduce the high aviation dropout rates.”
Skyfarer Academy vets instructors for specific expertise creating a user-friendly online experience. For learners who seek something more than the basic ground school experience it is a chance to customize their learning, the company said.
For example, if a student wants to brush up their knowledge before a flight review, it is unlikely they want to sit through an entire certificate-appropriate ground school. Instead, they can do a one-on-one session with an instructor who specializes in flight reviews and can help the learner identify and shore up their soft spots.
For instructors, many of them career teachers of flight, it is an opportunity to offer the benefit of their expertise and experience to students outside their geographic area.
Because there is a wider variety of instructors than one might find at a brick-and-mortar location, Skyfarer Academy increases students’ chances of success, Nick Tsang, co-founder and CEO of Skyfarer Academy, said in a statement.
Individualized training can thwart many of the frustrations that drive many aspiring pilots—as many as 70 percent of those who begin training, according to Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA)—to quit before they reach certification, according to the company.
"We’re seeing way too many students leaving the pipeline because of issues that are entirely solvable,” Tsang said. “Proper flight school training and online ground school options remain essential, but there is a growing demand for accessible online instruction from qualified flight instructors. Skyfarer Academy is here to meet that need, offering personalized training designed to supplement traditional instruction and help students stay on track.”
Skyfarer Academy is free to join. Each session is priced separately and varies based on class format, instructor preference, and overall Skyfarer Academy session pricing.
