Video: Skydiver Jumps from T-6 Texan

This video ranks in the “don’t try this at home” category, but we thought it was worth sharing. The video shows a skydiver jumping out of a North American T-6 Texan, the legendary advanced military trainer, which has become a staple in the warbird scene at airshows around the country.

However, with its glass canopy and large vertical stabilizer, the T-6 is perhaps not the most ideal platform for a skydiver. The video shows how the skydiver gingerly climbs out of the cockpit. After he gives the thumbs up, the pilot pitches the airplane up to slow it down prior to the skydiver releasing his grip on the canopy. Several interesting views are shown of the jump, including one from the vantage of the skydiver as the airplane fades away.
