Women in Aviation International Announces Mid-Year Scholarships

At $45 a year, the annual membership dues to Women in Aviation International (WAI) continue to deliver valuable educational bang for the buck to any woman or man member climbing the aviation ladder, no matter whether they're focused on flying, aircraft maintenance or air traffic control. And WAI knows just how expensive that continuing aviation education can be which is why the organization delivers more scholarship opportunities than just about anyone else, more than $12 million since 1995.

The mid-year scholarship numbers are in and WAI reports $73,000 in total awards from an anonymous donor for 17 individual scholarships. The numbers break down into five Private Pilot scholarships of $5,000 each, with three additional $5,000 checks to pilots working on their instrument rating. Two scholarships of $3,000 each will assist pilots with their instructor certificate, with one $5,000 amount given to a pilot at work on their instrument instructor certificate. Four more scholarships worth $3,000 each went to pilots working on their multi-engine rating. Finally, two members were awarded $5,000 each toward their education as aircraft maintenance technicians.

“As always, we’re grateful to the generous companies and individuals who participate by their contributions to our scholarship program,” says WAI President Peggy Chabrian. “These donors literally change the lives of our members and help guide them on a clear path to a career in aviation.”
